Generally speaking, one-on-one interviews are calculated at 5 hours of transcription per hour of audio, and focus groups are calculated at 8 hours of transcription per hour of audio. These calculations vary based on the above criteria.
Hourly Guidelines
Listed below are basic transcription hours required to produce transcripts from recorded audio/visual materials. Please note that these guidelines are based on clear recordings or legible source material. Extraordinarily difficult audio or other source material may result in additional hours.
Our hourly rate may be obtained by requesting a price quote.
Basic transcription services include standard proofreading [1]. Comprehensive proofreading is available for additional hours and provides a comprehensive review of the transcript (reading word-for-word or number-for-number) to detect and mark errors for correction. Errors may relate to grammar, spacing, punctuation, or typography. Where applicable, billable time is to be calculated according to actual time.(Industry Production Standards, p. 3-8)
